Intervention for Klonopin (also known as Clonazepam) addiction is becoming more and more common. Klonopin, which at one time was prescribed for epilepsy and anti seizure management for adolescents has become increasingly popular for anxiety. Because of the millions of prescription each year for people with moderate to sever anxiety, Klonopin has exposed itself as one of the most abused anxiety medications on the market. It is not uncommon for klonopin intervention calls to
have a diagnosis of alcoholism or other substance abuse. People who seek an answer to their depression issues are almost always self medicating with alcohol or drugs prior to going to a doctor or psychiatrist for depression. The problem we see at Klonopin intervention is that the substance abuser or alcoholic neglects to tell the medical professional about their alcoholism or other drug abuse. The problem than becomes are we diagnosing the depression and treating it with Klonopin, or are we just treating the side effects of alcohol abuse or drug addiction with Klonopin. This is the biggest problem we face while doing Klonopin intervention or any other intervention type for that matter. Many substance abusers are on medications that they were given when they were diagnosed for disorders while abusing other substances. What happens is, the doctors and the psychiatrist start diagnosing and treating side effects of drug or alcohol abuse with medications rather than diagnosing a true problem. It is almost impossible for an intervention professional, doctor, or psychiatrist to see what is truly going on until the substance abuser is taken off of all medications. Then a true diagnosis can be made.
Intervention for Klonopin Addiction
Klonopin addiction is a very dangerous addiction that requires a medically supervised detox followed by long term treatment. Klonopin intervention is extremely important, if a professional is not present and the family or friends do not get the substance abuser the appropriate medical attention, it could turn fatal. Klonopin is under the category of a benzodiazepine which like alcohol, is one of the few detoxes you can die from when use is stopped abruptly. In fact when we are performing Klonopin intervention we make families aware that stopping Klonopin use abruptly can cause ”Status Epilepticus” which is just one long seizure in your brain which is life threatening. It is amazing how pharmaceutical drugs and legal drugs like alcohol can and usually do have a greater impact on people than a hard core street drug like crack cocaine or heroin. We think that because the drug was prescribed by a medical professional that it is ok to take. Or because alcohol is legal and socially acceptable it is ok to consume. Most people addicted to Klonopin are incapable of making rational decisions and often appear to be in a state of drunkenness and delusion with slurred speech. They are usually harder to treat at intervention than a street drug user. It is important to understand that Klonopin addiction is not going to correct itself without some form of intervention, a medically supervised detox, and a long term treatment program that will help with the overall long term success rate of overcoming the Klonopin addiction.
Klonopin Intervention Program
A professional intervention program for any addiction is almost always the best route to go. Most families think that interventions are for the substance abuser and is an attempt to inspire them to change. In fact this is absolutely not what an intervention is. Klonopin intervention program provides families with necessary tools and coping mechanisms to ensure that everything possible is done to attempt saving your loved ones life. Families always feel they can just talk the addict in themselves. What they do not understand is that addiction is a family illness that affects everyone involved. Unless families change the unhealthy family roles that the addiction has created, the addiction has a far greater chance of not getting better. Everyone has to change, not just the person abusing drugs.
