Professional Intervention

Many families struggle with whether or not they should bring in a professional intervention counselor or try to do the intervention themselves.  With a professional intervention families are leaving no stone left unturned as well as taking the professional male interventionistpressure of off themselves.  With a professional intervention families are receiving the education they need to help greatly increase long term sobriety for their loved one as well as make the change comfortable.  It is not difficult to just talk an addict or alcoholic into getting some help.  What is difficult without the help of a professional intervention is getting your loved one to a treatment center that is appropriate and not what the addict or alcoholic wants.  Addicts and alcoholic will always go for the path of least resistance.  If all of our interventions were just to get your loved one to say they have a problem and that they will go see someone or go to outpatient our job would be easy if not pointless.  A professional is about the family coming together and making a decision for their loved one the day before and than delivering the intervention the following day.  The goal is to make a decision for someone who is clearly incapable of making a rational decision for themselves when they don't have to.  Because your loved one is always going to take the path of least resistance it is important to have a professional present to handle all of the objections and lies from your loved one.  By the time a family has called us about a professional intervention they have been manipulated for so long it is nearly impossible for the family to do the intervention themselves and get their loved one to a treatment center on the families terms.

Intervention Professionals

Family First Intervention, Inc. takes great pride in employing intervention professionals that do everything possible to help your family and bring your loved one to treatment.  Unfortunately the television show on intervention has created a pool of what we classify as the "weekend warrior" interventionist.  This is not an intervention professional and is just some person with no training or credentials who charges a family thousands of dollars to talk their loved one into going.  Most of these people have no websites, paperwork, or manuals to guide a family through the proper training to ensure a successful outcome for your loved one.  We stand behind that fact that we do not lie to the addict or make deals with them as some intervention professionals may do just to "get them to treatment".  Lying to an addict or alcoholic is not going to help with the long term success of the treatment center nor is it going to the family in the long run.  There are some intervention professionals that will tell an addict or an alcoholic at an intervention to "just go for a few days, and if you don't like it you can leave".  Sadly this practice goes on and unfortunately ends up with your loved one walking out the door days later hanging the promise over your head that they could leave in a few days.  The intervention professionals should be spending a day before with a manual or some solid paperwork, be specific to you and your loved one about what they will be doing and why, where your loved one will be going and for how long.  Intervention professionals should be about ethics and integrity keeping in mind their main purpose is to comfort the family and bring the families loved one to a treatment center by being honest and not on false pretenses just to "get them there"

Professional Interventions

Our professional interventions are designed to make your loved one accountable and to give the problem back to them while making the change for the family comfortable.  It is not okay for the addict and the alcoholic to run the families lives emotionally.  The hardest part for families is them struggling with the idea of doing the intervention themselves.  Almost every call we get is from family that has been in this cycle of insanity for numerous years and that after talking with us about professional interventions they still sadly attempt to fix the problem themselves, it is not that easy.  It is very difficult for families to face the fact they can not fix this problem and that they have to turn to professional interventions for help.  It is okay for the family to allow us to come and walk them through the entire process.  Professional interventions are there for the family to be comforted and to have the addict or alcoholic accept help and get their life back.  Families trying to do this themselves is never a good option because your loved one views everyone closes to them as the problem and most likely harbors resentment at them.  When your loved one is then confronted by their family they almost always resist, deny or try and negotiate.  Give yourself a break and call for a consultation, we can help.
