Oxycontin Intervention
Oxycontin, also know as hillbilly heroin is an extremely potent narcotic analgesic similar to morphine and heroin as far as the euphoria felt when ingested. Oxycontin intervention is by far the most common of all the interventions that we perform, and from what we have seen, Oxycontin appears to be one of the most sought after drugs today. Oxycontin is a powerful narcotic that is supposed to be used for severe pain, such as cancer patients or post surgery. However today doctors hand
the stuff out like candy making it one of the most sought after narcotics next to heroin. Intervention for Oxycontin addiction is extremely similar to heroin intervention, probably because the drugs are almost identical in they way it is used, the feeling you get when you use it, and the severity of the addiction associated with it. When we are doing Oxycontin Intervention the biggest objection we face is the addict telling us they need the medication for pain. We find out later during the Oxycontin intervention that they are taking at least three to four times the recommended dose, not to mention they are crushing up the pills and either snorting them or injecting them with a needle. I am sure when the drug is prescribed by the doctor they are not telling the patient to take three to four times the amount instructed, nor are they telling them to crush up the pills so they can snort them or shoot them. Again with Oxycontin intervention or any other addiction intervention for that matter, the problem is the person using the drugs as a solution to their problems and what the drug use itself is doing to the outcome of the substance abusers future.
Intervention for Oxycontin Addiction
Like all other opiates, Oxycontin is extremely addicting and in most cases requires a medical detox followed by long term treatment to treat. Oxycontin addiction does not come cheap for it's users. The average cost of Oxycontin at the street level is about a $1.00 a milligram, average dose being one 80mg Oxycontin at a time sometimes as many as three or four times a day. Most Oxycontin users grind the pills up to either shoot them in a vein or snort them because Oxycontin is a time released pill. When the user breaks the time released coating, they turn what was otherwise a slow release of Oxycontin over a period of time into an immediate release of the whole dose at once. Intervention for Oxycontin sees this over and over again, where just like a heroin junkie they are doing things that parents do not want to think about to obtain money for their fix. Over the years during Oxycontin intervention the users most often tell us they use the Oxycontin over heroin because it is pharmaceutical grade and not cut down on the streets, and sadly enough because it is easier to get then heroin. Oxycontin intervention is important if your loved one is addicted, not only because of the danger in using the drugs but also the crimes associated with obtaining or selling the drugs. Most people do not believe that doctor shopping (seeing numerous doctors at once) is a crime that you can and will get arrested for. Oxycontin intervention are most successful when they are performed before this or even something worse happens.
Oxycontin Intervention Program
Oxycontin intervention program has a far better success rate that when families try to do an intervention themselves. Oxycontin addicts like other drug addicts are very good manipulators and liars. Time and time again we see families give into the demands of the substance abuser and give them one more chance to fix it themselves. The problem is, the substance abuser can almost never fix the problem themselves and is usually only willing to do as little as possible to try to correct the problems that come with the addiction. Our Oxycontin intervention program shows the family that their loved one, and the family themselves, keep trying to fix the problems that come up. They almost never fix the source of the problems and that is the addiction itself.
