Intervention Statistics
One of the most commonly asked questions is "what is your success rate"? Many families find it unbelievable when we tell them that our drug and alcohol intervention statistics are 100% effective if you follow 100% of our suggestions. That is
correct, we have yet to see an intervention fail when the family has followed through with everything and sticks to the plan. Intervention is for the family, treatment is for the addict or alcoholic. Of course the end goal for any intervention is to have the addict or alcoholic willingly except help, however it is just as much for the family to know that they did everything they could and that they did it correctly. The intervention statistic that is much more difficult to face is the statistics of how many people actually do the intervention. Getting the addict or alcoholic to treatment is actually the easier part of the intervention, getting the entire family to agree to allow the intervention itself is the most difficult part. Here are the alarming drug and alcohol intervention statistics that we face on a weekly basis:
The most powerful drug in the world is love and the hardest behavior to change in regards to addiction is the enabling from the family. It is 10 times easier to get the addict or alcoholic to treatment than it is to get the family to allow us to do the intervention.
90 % of all interventions are successful the day of the intervention when a professional is used. This number increases if the family follows through with all of the guidelines of the intervention.
Only 10% of all families that call us actually go through with the intervention mainly because of:
1. Certain family members think they can fix the problem themselves and want to be the hero.
2. Other family think the addict or alcoholic won't go for the intervention or will never find them (that's never happened)
3. The family says they will just walk out of treatment.
4. The family feels intervention won't work.
5. The family thinks they can do the intervention themselves by just talking to them (that's never worked)
90% of calls are from a woman. The person calling is usually the strongest with the highest level of confront and if the entire decision was up to them they would do the intervention.
Of the interventions we schedule, 90% of them are when we talk to the man or the rest of the family to bring them on the same page. Sadly enough woman are correct when they say men do not ask for directions. Fathers and husbands are the most difficult to convince to do the intervention with the biggest problem being that nobody is on the same page.
90% of all mothers and or fathers think the addiction is their fault and that they caused the problem. This is 100% not true.
Addiction is the only fatal illness that is 100% treatable.
Intervention Success Rates
When families ask about the statistics or the overall success rates there are so many different statistics to discuss. The more the family does to plan properly, the higher the long term success of the intervention and treatment plan. A true successful intervention statistic is based on how the family feels about what they have done after the intervention is over regardless of the outcome. This is because the only way to have a true successful intervention is when the family changes and allows their loved one to become fully accountable for their own addiction. Whether the family enables or not, intervention sends the message that there is nothing in the world the family would not do for their loved one, however there is nothing the family is going to do for their loved one any longer if they know it will make the addiction worse. Interventions are almost always successful if the family follows through with the plan.
