Addiction Intervention Specialist
The most popular question asked to us is whether the family can do the intervention themselves or is an addiction intervention specialist needed. As the president and founder of Family First Intervention, Inc., I went to a treatment center 19 times willingly because my family asked me to or enforced some rules to make me go that they never followed through with. Every time I went to treatment I never went for myself and it never had to work. Frustrated, my family looked to an addiction intervention specialist. Not only did the addiction intervention specialist obtain my willingness to accept help, he also changed our family system that made me accountable and responsible to allow me to own the addiction for the first time in my life. Because of this I have been clean and sober since performing the same interventions that saved my life and my families sanity. Families can often talk their loved one into a treatment center, however rarely do they get them to stay in treatment and remain sober. Addiction intervention specialist help with the two addictions that are present at each intervention. The first addiction is the drugs or alcohol for your loved one and the second one is the process addiction of love and co-dependency by the family. Unless both addictions are treated it is unlikely either will get better in the long run. Bringing in an addiction intervention specialist greatly increases the long term success of your loved one remaining sober as well as the family healing and getting better too. When families try to do the intervention themselves they are missing the entire first part of what an intervention is about and that is changing the family system that has been broken down by the addiction. Remember it is not the families fault, however bringing in an addiction intervention specialist can show you exactly what needs to change and why.
Drug & Alcohol Intervention Specialist
Our intervention process is a two day event starting with only the family first and not the addict or alcoholic. The drug & alcohol intervention specialist spends as much time as necessary with family members preparing for the actual intervention day and for what happens after it is over. Having a drug & alcohol intervention specialist is important because they are not emotionally attached to the situation and it is much easier for us to see the forest for the trees. Drug & alcohol intervention specialist are also able to establish a connection with your loved one, something that can be very difficult for a family to do. It is quite amazing at how many families tell us that their loved one gave more information about what is going on to the drug and alcohol intervention specialist than they ever did to the family. This is because the family does not understand completely what their loved one is going through and your loved one does not understand what the family is going through. Bringing the family together with a mediator is the most comfortable option for everyone. There is usually much resentment and tension at the intervention so having the drug & alcohol intervention specialist present makes things run much smoother and opens the door for long term sobriety for you loved one. Interventions have an amazing way at making your loved one own their addiction and become accountable for themselves, something that has been lacking for a long time.
Intervention Specialist
Family First Intervention, Inc. employs 5 intervention specialist with all different backgrounds and areas of expertise. Just like not every treatment center is the right fit for your loved one, neither is just one intervention specialist. We try and pair your loved one up with one of our intervention specialist based on age, drug of choice, family history, male, female, etc. The stronger the connection between your loved one and our intervention specialist, the less confrontation at the intervention. In all fairness because of the intervention process, any intervention specialist on our staff can offer the same family training and delivery of the intervention, however we want you loved one to be comfortable with the person escorting them to treatment. After all your loved ones drug of choice is not necessarily the alcohol or drugs, it is actually avoiding discomfort and taking the path of least resistance. Although drugs and alcohol have become a huge problem, picking the intervention specialist best suited for your loved one make things run better and ultimately resulting in a successful intervention outcome.
